Softball: Wolfe Notched Seven RBI as Lady Wildcats Split with PSU Schuylkill

 

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. - Freshman Karey Wolfe (Milton) was 6 for 8 with seven RBI leading the Pennsylvania College of Technology softball team in its split with Penn State Schuylkill Wednesday. The Lady Wildcats dropped game one 11-9 but bounced back taking the second 6-2. Freshman Kimberly Walter (Beavertown) recorded the win racking up seven strikeouts. With the split, Penn College is now 7-7 in the Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) and 9-19 overall.

 

In the opener, the Lady Wildcats led through the first five innings with Wolfe getting things started in the first with a three-run shot. She went on to rack up six RBI in the game with three hits. Schuylkill, down 9-8 in the sixth notched three runs to steal the victory.

 

Freshman Christina Mignot (Hughesville) started the game going 4 2/3 giving up four unearned runs with three strikeouts. Walter finished the out the game recording two strikeouts. Also for Penn College, freshmen Rachael Shaeffer (Hampstead, Md.) and Katie Kratzer (Selinsgrove) both went 2 for 4.

 

In game two, Walter went the distance with seven strikeouts and allowed only six hits. The Lions scored only two runs on her in the fourth. Penn College scored two in the first to take the lead and added two more in both the fourth and seventh.

 

In the game, Wolfe was against 3 for 4. Shaffer went 2 for 4 with two doubles and sophomore Stephanie Keifrider (Douglassville) was 2 for 3.

 

Next up, the Lady Wildcats travel to Penn State Greater Allegheny for a 2 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday, Apr. 27.
