Brandywine and Fayette on Cue for 2015-16 PSUAC Women's Volleyball Championship

State College, Pa. - Through a 3-0 Brandywine victory over Penn State Beaver and a 3-0 Fayette triumph over Penn State Mont Alto, Saturday afternoon, the two winners are set to battle in the 2015-16 Penn State University Athletic Conference Women's Volleyball Championships, Sunday afternoon, at 12 p.m.

The first set of the day saw match-ups from #1 Penn State Brandywine and #4 Penn State Beaver. The three sets were decided in Brandywine's favor, 25-13, 25-20 and 25-13.

Brandywine's Miranda Biondi posted 29 assists, 16 digs, one block, service ace and kill to elevate BW over their adversary. Kim Russo got down for 23 digs, seven assists and five service aces to contribute to the victory. Nikki Poissant knocked down 12 kills, 12 digs and three service aces while Halee Kusner placed 13 kills and a dig.

Earlier in the day, Biondi established herself as not only Player of the Year, but also a First-Team All-Conference student-athlete. Poissant joined her on the First-Team list as Russo earned herself Second-Team All-Conference recognition. Kusner was honored for her efforts as Newcomer of the Year for the PSUAC.

Beaver put up a battle through the three sets, pushing Brenda Martinez to add 17 digs with eleven assists. Roxy Kie posted 16 digs and two kills while Miranda Pfeiffer got down for ten digs.

Martinez, Morgan Cannister and Jenna Petrucci were awarded for their efforts with the First-Team All-Conference accolades as Julianna Kon earned Second-Team All-Conference.

Game two of the day brought on #2 Penn State Fayette and #3 Penn State Mont Alto. Also completed in three sets, Fayette came out on top by three scores marked by 25-19, 25-21 and 25-15.

Fayette's Tyler Peebles dished out 29 assits while getting down for six digs and three kills. Caitlyn Wiliams got down for 16 digs while Emma Lewis posted ten kills, four digs and two blocks. Courtney Haines posted nine kills, five blocks and three digs as Whitney Ptak and Druianna Ford added six kills a piece.

Penn State Fayette listed Kelsey Tyler and Haines contributed two First-Team All-Conference showouts through the season while Williams and Lewis earned Second-Team All-Conference nominations.

Penn State Mont Alto battled hard throughout the three contests, as Jenny Halterman put up 18 assists and 12 digs. Alexis Smith drained eight kills and nine digs to contribute to the Mont Alto efforts. Kelsey Wetzel added seven kills and seven digs for the Mont Alto women's volleyball team.

From Mont Alto, Kelsey Wetzel earned First-Team All-Conference as Jenny Halterman was recognized for Second-Team All-Conference. Honorable Mention accomplishments went to Alyssa Booth and Hannah Geesman for their efforts through the season. 

Brandywine (19-3, 16-0 PSUAC) looks forward to their third straight appearance in the PSUAC finals as Fayette (18-8, 14-2 PSUAC) envisions their eighth championship appearance.

Tip-off is set for Sunday at 12 p.m. at Rec Hall in State College.
