Women’s Volleyball: Lady Wildcats Split Home Quad Match

 

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Pennsylvania College of Technology women's volleyball team split two games as it hosted three Penn State University Athletic Conference teams Sunday. Penn College lost 3-1 to perennial powerhouse Penn State Fayette but followed up with a 3-0 sweep against Penn State Greater Allegheny. With the wins, the Lady Wildcats improve to 11-17 overall and 10-5 in the PSUAC.  

 

Against Fayette, the Lady Wildcats lost 9-25, 25-19, 10-25, 19-25. Both teams battled with a total of 135 digs in the match. Senior Rachel Heller (Allison Park) led the team with 25 while junior Courtney Gernert (Palmyra) had 11. Gernert also led all hitters in the match with 17 kills. Freshman Cathleen Aviles (Robesonia) notched 20 assists.

 

Against Greater Allegheny, Penn College trailed through most of set one. At 23-17, sophomore Loralee Lindemuth (Tidioute) took the service line and won six straight points helping her team win 26-24. She and freshman Kaitlyn Klein (Lock Haven) helped with seven kills while Gernert led with 12. Heller was on point defensively with 23 digs bringing her total for the day to 48.

 

Also for the Lady Wildcats, freshman Sarah Fegley (Danville) totaled four clocks with Lindemuth adding five.

 

Also competing at the match was Penn State Hazleton. The Lady Lions lost to Fayette 3-0 and defeated Greater Allegheny 3-1.

 

Next up, Penn College hosts Penn State Scranton for its final regular season conference match on Thursday, Sept. 17 at 7 p.m.
