Women lose to Penn State Hazelton

Hazelton, PA- Penn State Beaver women's volleyball loses to Penn State Hazelton making their conference record 8-5.

Beaver and Hazelton went toe to toe the whole match up, with Hazelton winning the first set then Beaver winning the second. The second set was very close with the score swaying back and forth. Beaver was able to win the set, 26-24.

In the third set, Hazelton would again win, proving that they weren't ready to quit. The score was close with Beaver consistently scoring but it wasn't enough. Beaver would win the next set with 10 kills and 27 total attempts bringing it down to a fifth and final set to break the tie.

In the fifth set, Beaver and Hazelton played hard, Beaver had 6 kills but it wasn't enough. Hazelton won the set 15-13, with a match score of 3-2.

Beaver's key players were Kayona Ward (Beaver Falls, PA/Beaver Falls) and Jocelyn Warfield (Monaca, PA/Central Valley) who had a combined 20 kills. On defense, Miranda Pfeiffer (Freedom, PA/Freedom) and Amanda Palombo (Aliquippa, PA/Quigley Catholic) led the team in digs.

Beaver faces off against Penn State Worthington Scranton and Penn State Wilkes-Barre on Sunday, October 13.
