Women’s Volleyball: Lady Wildcats Split at PSUAC Quad Match

 

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Pennsylvania College of Technology women's volleyball team split two matches as it competed at a Penn State University Athletic Conference quad match at Penn State Brandywine. The Lady Wildcats won 3-0 over Penn State Schuylkill before being swept by host Brandywine. Junior Courtney Gernert led the offense totaling 30 kills and 13 service aces in the two matches. With the split, Penn College is now 5-15 overall and 4-3 in the PSUAC.

 

Against Schuylkill, the Lady Wildcats won 25-5, 25-10, 25-7. They totaled 27 kills with Gernert leading with 14. She also notched 12 of the teams' 24 service aces. Sophomore Loralee Lindemuth (Tidioute) also had a nice game with 10 kills. Freshman Cathleen Aviles (Robesonia) had 23 assists.

 

Against Brandywine, Penn College lost 27-25, 25-15, 25-20. Down by nine in the first set, the team fought back to tie at 18 before just being edged out. Gernert had 16 kills while senior Rachel Heller (Allison Park) had 16 digs.

 

Next up, Penn College travels to Penn State Mont Alto to take on the host and Penn State York on Sunday, Oct. 6 starting at noon.
