Women’s Volleyball: Gernert Leads Offense in Split at PSUAC Quad Match

 

MONT ALTO, Pa. – Junior Courtney Gernert (Palmyra) totaled 25 kills as the Pennsylvania College of Technology women's volleyball team split two matches competing at a Penn State University Athletic Conference quad match at Penn State Mont Alto. The Lady Wildcats won 3-0 over Penn State York before being swept by host Mont Alto. With the split, Penn College is now 6-16 overall and 5-4 in the PSUAC.

 

Against York, the Lady Wildcats dominated play winning 25-17, 25-16, 25-19. Gernert totaled 15 kills while freshman Cathleen Aviles (Robesonia) had 21 assists. Senior Rachel Heller (Allison Park) was on point defensively with 17 digs.

 

Against Mont Alto, Penn College lost 25-11, 25-18, 25-20. Mont Alto had strong serving in the match that put the Penn College offense off its game. The team totaled 13 attack errors. Gernert once again led with 10 kills and 13 digs while Aviles had 12 assists. Freshman Kaitlyn Klein (Lock Haven) had two blocks in the game.

 

Next up, Penn College hosts Penn State Wilkes Barre on Thursday, Oct. 10 for a 7 p.m. match.
