Women’s Volleyball: Gernert on All-Tournament Team as Lady Wildcats Finish Classic 0-2

 

WILLIAMSPORT Pa. – Junior Courtney Gernert (Palmyra) was named to the Lycoming College Class All-Tournament Team as the Pennsylvania College of Technology women's volleyball team finished day two of the tournament 0-2. The Lady Wildcats lost 3-0 to both Ithaca College and host Lycoming. Gernert had a strong tournament totaling 49 kills in the tournament which includes 20 kills from day two. With the losses, Penn College now drops to 4-13 overall.  

 

Against Ithaca, the Lady Wildcats fell 25-14, 25-9, 25-14. Gernert led with eight kills and freshman Cathleen Aviles (Robesonia) had 11 assists. The team totaled 26 digs with senior Rachel Heller (Allison Park) notched 10.

 

Penn College's best set of the game was the first where they recorded five kills and hit .143.

 

Against Lycoming, Gernert again was the offensive leader with 12 kills. Aviles recorded 13 assists and Heller was in a zone with 12 digs. Penn College totaled nine blocks for the game with sophomore Loralee Lindemuth (Tidioute) having three.

 

All three sets were tight but the Warriors were able to edge out Penn College 25-15, 25-18, 25-19.

 

Next up, the Lady Wildcats host Elmira College on Tuesday, Oct. 1 for a 7 p.m. match.
