Beaver falls to Pitt Greensburg

Greensburg, PA -- In a non-conference match-up this evening, the Lady Lions took on the Bobcats of Pitt Greensburg.

After, playing well Tuesday night against Bethany College, Beaver struggled passing tonight and could never fully run their offense. They started each set playing well for the first 6 or 7 points and then they would slowly slip out of the game due largely to poor passing and service errors and dropped 3 straight sets by scores of 25-14, 25-15 and 25-15.

Despite the inconsistent play, several players had stand out nights. Junior, Kayona Ward (Beaver Falls, PA/Beaver Falls) led the team in solo blocks with 12 on the night. She also had 4 kills in 16 attempts on offense. Other notable performances came from sophomore, Christina Murdoch (Aliquippa, PA/Hopewell) who added 4 kills and freshman, Madeline Hill (Monaca, PA/Central Valley) who had 4 kills as well. On the defensive side of the ball, sophomore, Miranda Pfeiffer (Freedom, PA/Freedom) led the team in digs with 8 this evening.

The Lady Lions return to action next week when they travel to Westmoreland County Community College in Youngwood, PA for a tri-match with WCCC and Butler County Communtiy College. The match is slated to start at 5:00 PM with Beaver playing at 6:30 PM and 8:00 PM.
