WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL: Gernert Leads Offense as Keystone Sweeps Lady Wildcats 3-0

LA PLUME, Pa. – Junior Courtney Gernert (Palmyra) notched seven kills as the Pennsylvania College of Technology women's volleyball team lost 3-0 to Keystone College Friday night. Gernert led the offense that totaled 14 kills and three aces. The team dropped the three sets 25-17, 25-18, 25-22.

 

The Giants controlled the first two sets taking early leads and holding them for the win. In the third set, Penn College (0-1) jumped out ahead and were primed to take the set until the Giants put a run together to steal the victory.

 

As a team, Penn College totaled 15 digs with freshmen Ashlee Dick (Petersburg) and Kaitlyn Bailey (Millerton) each recording five. Freshman Cathleen Aviles (Robesonia) started her career off strong with 11 assists.

 

Next up, the Lady Wildcats travel to Penn State Harrisburg for a tri-match with King's College on Saturday, Sept. 7 starting at 10 a.m.
