Powell Notches 17 Kills as Wildcats Sweep PSU Mont Alto 3-0

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Senior Tara Powell (Burgettstown) recorded 17 kills to lead the Pennsylvania College of Technology women's volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep of Penn State Mont Alto in the Penn State University Athletic Conference quarterfinals. Sophomore Courtney Gernert (Palmyra) added 11 kills to the mix. The win improves the Wildcats to 22-7 overall and 16-1 in conference.

 

Penn College came out on fire taking set one 25-5. Mont Alto (8-14, 8-9 PSUAC) found better form in sets two and three but still fell 25-16, 25-15.

 

Sophomore Caitlyn Curley (Middletown) totaled 23 assists while freshman Morgan Moberg (Huntingdon) had 14. Penn College totaled 56 digs in the match with Gernert having 16, Moberg 11 and Powell 10.

 

The Wildcats will travel to Rec Hall on the campus of Penn State University for the PSUAC semifinals. The match will be on Sunday, Oct. 28 at 5 p.m. against the winner of #3 Penn State Brandywine and #6 Penn State Greater Allegheny.
