Powell Shows Big Offense in Two Game Sweep at PSU Beaver

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Senior Tara Powell (Burgettstown) totaled 22 kills as the Pennsylvania College of Technology women's volleyball team won both its game at the Penn State Beaver quad match. The Wildcats swept both their games 3-0 against the host and Penn State Greater Allegheny. Also with a strong day was sophomore Caitlyn Curley (Middletown) with 44 assists. The wins improve Penn College to 18-5 overall and 12-0 in the Penn State University Athletic Conference.

In the opening match against Greater Allegheny, the Wildcats won 25-12, 25-12, 25-14. Powell notched 11 kills and Curley had 22 assists. The team continued its strong serving with 17 service aces with freshman Gabrielle George (Morton) leading the team with six.

After a tight 25-21 first set win, Penn College took the next three 25-13, 25-14. Powell again led with 11 kills and Curley with 22 assists. George showed strong defense with 11 digs and sophomore Kelly Hebert showed dominance at the net with three blocks.

Next up, the Wildcats travel to Penn State Fayette for another conference quad match starting at noon on Sunday, Oct. 14.
