Wildcats Sweep in Conference Quad Match

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Freshman Morgan Moberg (Huntingdon) notched 31 assists to help the Pennsylvania College of Technology women's volleyball team take two wins in a Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) quad match it hosted Saturday. The Wildcats won 3-0 against Penn State Schuylkill and then later defeat Penn State Brandywine 3-0. The wins improve the team to 12-5 overall and 7-0 in the PSUAC.

Against Schuylkill, Penn College dominated sweeping 25-8, 25-7, 25-3. Senior Tara Powell (Burgettstown) led with 11 kills and three service aces. Moberg was on point with 19 kills.

As a team, the Wildcats totaled 30 kills and 15 service aces. Sophomore Kelly Hebert (Wellsboro) led with seven aces.

Brandywine was a tough opponent for Penn College in the final game of the day.

Set one was tied at 10 before the Wildcats put together a run and took the set 25-15. Down 21-16 in set two, they relied on the strong serving of Herbert to put them back into the game and eventually take it 26-24. Neither team had a big lead in the third set, but the Wildcats were able to edge out Brandywine 25-20.

Sophomore Courtney Gernert (Palmyra) led with 10 kills and added 12 digs. Powell led with 14 digs while the Lions' Kim Russo led all players with 34.

Two other games were played at Penn College today. Penn State Hazleton defeated Penn State Schuylkill 3-0 and Penn State Brandywine defeated Hazleton 3-0.

Next up, Penn College travels to Penn State Hazleton to take on Penn State Mont Alto and Penn State York starting at noon.
