Brandywine Volleyball Update

Penn State Brandywine's volleyball team started off its season against DIII Delaware Valley on September 1, 2011. After a tough first game, Brandywine started to communicate and get in a rhythm and began fighting back. Unfortunately it was too late, the Lions showed their youth and lost in three to the Aggies. 

On Saturday, September 3, Brandywine traveled to Valley Forge Christian College. The Lions came out energized and focused and were ready to win! With senior, Melanie Tyson and junior, Kate Cowan leading the team Brandywine came out on top in a 3-0 victory. Freshman, Brandy Flowers made a huge impact in the middle and was able to shake off freshman nerves to play aggressively and dominate the net.

The Lady Lions of Penn State Brandywine were focused and determined in Saturday, September 17 home match against PSU Mont Alto. After a tough loss in game one (26-28) Brandywine never looked back and banded together. With leadership from freshman, Brandy Flowers, the Lions pushed through to win game two (25-18) and game three (25-21.) Flowers and Amanda Rasley were on fire in the front row while Alex Vitale and Melanie Tyson dominated the back. Mont Alto came out energized and ambushed Brandywine in game four but Brandywine was pumped for the challenge of game five. Setter Kate Cowan put up 33 assists to set the tone for Brandywine leading them to a victory over Mont Alto 3-2.
