Women’s Soccer: Lady Wildcats Fall 2-0 to #6 Daemen at USCAAs

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – In the opening round of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Women's Soccer Championships, #3 Pennsylvania College of Technology lost 2-0 to #6 Daemen College (N.Y.). Freshman keeper Reda Vermilya (Turbotville) made 23 saves in the loss, a season and career high. "Reda really kept us in the game," said head coach Markus Rybak. "She made some strong saves and if it wasn't for her, it could have been a much different score." The loss knocks the Wildcats out of contention for the championship. They will play a consolation game on Friday, Nov. 2 at 11 a.m.

Daemon scored in the 14th and 82nd minutes of the game. "They scored early and then scored late," said Rybak. "The pace of the game was something we struggled with since it was on turf, something that we're not used to playing on consistently."

Penn College (8-5-2) was outshot 32-9 in the match with senior Kierstin Steer (South Williamsport) notching four of the team's shots.

The Wildcats will await the results of the #2 Carlow/#7 Univ. of Maine-Machias match as they will face the loser in the consolation game.
