Women's Basketball: Beaver Cruises to USCAA National Title

UNIONTOWN, PA- A 15-point lead at the half was more than enough of a cushion for the Beaver women's basketball team, as they defeated number one seed St. Joseph's (VT) 74-59 to claim the school's- and PSUAC's- first USCAA championship.

In a game that they never trailed in, Beaver opened the first half with a 13-4 scoring run, capped by a jump shot from Morgan Kurtz.  The PSUAC champs never looked back, and allowed just 21 first half points, while holding St. Joseph's to 8-37 (21.6 percent) shooting-- including 0-12 from behind the arc.  Beaver achieved their largest lead at 22 points when Mason Depetro's layup gave them a 57-35 advantage with just 7:53 to go in the second half, before holding on for the 15-point victory.

Brittany Jackson led Beaver on offense with 18 points and seven rebounds, while Cassandra Flowers (17 points, 10 rebounds) and Morgan Kurtz (11 points, 13 rebounds) both earned double-doubles.  Defensively, they held St. Joseph's to just 21-78 (26.9 percent) shooting, while forcing 25 turnovers.

Beaver finishes the season at 21-8 overall, including victories that earned them the two biggest prizes: their third-straight PSUAC title, and the PSUAC's first USCAA title.
