Women’s Basketball: Bova Picks Up 17 Boards in Loss to PSU Mont Alto

 

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Freshman Charese Bova (Beech Creek) notched a season high 17 rebounds, 11 of which were offensive, for the Pennsylvania College of Technology women's basketball team in its 64-55 loss to Penn State Mont Alto. Junior Niesha Williams (Loyalsock Twp.) led the team with 12 points while sophomore Danielle Mowery (Shamokin) added 11. The loss now drops the Lady Wildcats to 0-7 overall and 0-2 in the Penn State University Athletic Conference.  

 

 

Mont Alto opened the game on a 7-0 run before the Lady Wildcats countered with its own 6-0 run to bring it within one at 13:59. Down 18-13, Penn College went on a 5-0 run capped off by a three from Williams to tie the game at 18 with just over three minutes to play.

 

Williams ended the game 3-6 (.500) from three-point range.

 

The Lions ended the half with a 4-0 run to go into the break up 26-20.

 

In the second, Mont Alto built its leave up to 40-28 before the Lady Wildcats put together some offense bring the game to 45-46 on a 15-6 run. Mowery was a catalyst scoring seven of the points.

 

The Lions stayed steady and ended the game on run to capture the nine-point victory.

 

For the game, the Lady Wildcats totaled 58 rebounds to Mont Alto's 68. Block were a big part of the game with 17 total between the two teams and sophomore Margaret Dewire (Beaver Springs) notching five.

 

Penn College next hosts Penn State Schuylkill on Saturday, Dec. 7 for a 1 p.m. game
