Carlow Muscled Through Second Half to Take Win Over GA Women's Basketball

Pittsburgh, Pa. - Despite leading by one at halftime, the Penn State Greater Allegheny women's basketball team drop a non-conference tilt 52-48, Thursday night, over Carlow University.

Fierce battle led the way through the first half to keep the game back-and-forth. Freshman power forward Aaquila Youngblood (Pittsburgh, Pa./Obama Academy), senior point guard Taylor Fulton (Duquesne, Pa./West Mifflin) and junior power forward Christina Floyd (Philadelphia, Pa./Saints Neumann-Goretti) bucketed all 25 points through twenty minutes of play, holding the lead for nine consecutive minutes. Fulton went on a six point scoring drive to close the first half and takeover the lead, 25-24.

Carlow dropped eight within three minutes to open the second half. Floyd and Fulton would comprise of the majority of the last twenty minutes. Freshman point guard Shacobia Horn (Miami, Fla./Miami Southridge) and Youngblood made their presence known, as they both achieved points toward the Lion tally. Although coming close a hand full of times, Greater Allegheny would not retake the lead for the remainder of the game.

As a team, GA achieved 34 points in the paint alongside out-rebounding Carlow (42-33). The women also shot 56.2% (9-16) as a team from the free throw line.

Greater Allegheny has some time off for Thanksgiving before they see their next match-up. The women are set to travel with the men's team to Westmoreland County Community College on December 2nd. Women are set to tip-off at 5 p.m.
