GA Women's Basketball Drops 73-52 Decision Over Point Park

Pittsburgh, Pa. - Despite a double-double from junior power forward Christina Floyd (Philadelphia, Pa./Saints Neumann-Goretti), the Penn State Greater Allegheny women's basketball team fell by a 73-52 count against Point Park, Friday night.

GA and Point Park would play tight through the first ten minutes, as buckets were cashed in from freshman power forward Aaquila Youngblood (Pittsburgh, Pa./Obama Academy), junior guard Shelby Bendick (White Oak, Pa./McKeesport Area), senior point guard Taylor Fulton (Duquesne, Pa./West Mifflin) and Floyd.

Point Park began to pull away from GA, as scoring was consistent from the Pioneers. Point Park achieved 32 points to the Greater Allegheny 23 to close out the first half of play.

Freshman point guard Shacobia Horn (Miami, Fla./Miami Southridge) and freshman guard Raven Gribbins (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oyler) made their presence heard as both players bucketed points toward the GA tally.

Floyd finished the game with her second double-double of the season, as she capped 14 points and grabbed up 12 boards. Fulton dumped 18 points and seven assists to boost Greater Allegheny's efforts, but fell short as the clock dwindled to zero.

Turnovers would ultimately be the demise of the Lions, dropping the ladies to a 1-3 start on the season. Point Park rides out their unbeaten streak and improves to 4-0 on the season.

Greater Allegheny next sets their sights on Tuesday, as the women are set to travel with the men's team for a double-header over Pitt-Titusville. Women are set to start at 5 p.m.
