Beaver lose to SUNY Canton after a tough game

Monaca, PA- Penn State Beaver Lady Lions suffer a tough loss against the SUNY Canton Kangaroos during the Penn State Beaver Tip Off.

In the first half, Beaver fought hard to keep a lead over the Kangaroos. The Kangaroos put 2 points on the board first but Beaver's Asia Borders (Ellwood City, PA / Ellwood) scored shortly after to tie up the match. Within minutes of her point, Beaver was put up 7 points by another Borders point and points by Cassandra Flowers (Pittsburgh, PA / Westinghouse) and Morgan Kurtz (Washington, PA / Trinity). Beaver would keep the lead up until the 12:45 mark when the Kangaroos would narrow in and eventually tie the score at the 3:24 mark, 30-30. Beaver's Brittany Mineard (Beaver Falls, PA / Beaver Falls), Khalia Adams (Washington, DC / Phelps), and Kurtz all fought to get the lead back ending the half 32-39.

In the second half, both Beaver and the Kangaroos went neck-in-neck with each team scoring and then answering the others points. Beaver never let up the lead until the 12:47 mark when the Kangaroos would tie the score at 51-51. Beaver began to push harder with a win nearly in their grasp but they had to fight not only the Kangaroos for a win but the penalties that they were receiving. Beaver's most essential player at this point was Kurtz, who had 14 points in the half. Unfortunately Beaver's fight wasn't enough to pull out a win with a final score of 71-69.
