Uniontown, PA--- The Penn State Beaver Lady Lions opened up their 2013 USCAA National Tournament by defeating Maine Machias by a score of 66-53 on Thursday night as they advance to the national semifinals. Beaver trailed by four at the half but used an impressive second half performance to get the win.
Beaver was led offensively by Morgan Kurtz (Washington, Trinity) who finished with 19 points while adding 6 rebounds. Hayden Kimbrough (Rochester, Rochester) scored 14 points and had 6 rebounds while senior Brittany Tomaselli (East Liverpool, East Liverpool) scored 11 points and had 5 rebounds giving Beaver 3 scorers in double figures. Amanda Temple (Avella, Avella) and Khalia Adams (Washington DC, Phelps) both finished with 8 points and Temple also had 5 rebounds.
Beaver will now face Albany College of Pharmacy in the national tournament semifinals with tip-off scheduled for 9pm.
