Cold Shooting Hampers Women's Basketball in 64-52 Loss to Fayette

Lemont Furnace, Pa- The winter weather conditions crept into the visiting locker room for the Greater Allegheny (9-6, 4-3 PSUAC) women's basketball team, as they shot a cold, 28.6% (18-63) from the field in a 64-52 loss to Penn State Fayette.

Down as many as 13 in the second half, Greater Allegheny battled back to cut the lead to just five, following two free throws from sophomore guard Taylor Fulton (West Mifflin, PA). A layup from sophomore forward Christina Floyd (Philadelphia, PA) with 2:32 remaining kept the GA women within striking distance, at 58-52, but served as the final points they would put up.

Greater Allegheny was strong defensively throughout, as they held the Fayette shooters to 38.3% (23-60) from the field, with five of those buckets being timely three-pointers that ultimately made up the scoring difference; GA went 0-12 from behind the arc. Floyd led GA with 25 points and 15 rebounds, while Fulton tallied 16 points, nine rebounds, and six steals.

The Greater Allegheny women will hope to bounce back this Friday, January 18 as they travel to Penn State Du Bois for a 6 PM, PSUAC contest.
