Wildcats Snap Eight Game Losing Streak

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Junior Casey Braun (Hughesville) notched a 'double-double' with 12 points and 10 boards to lead the Pennsylvania College of Technology women's basketball team in its 49-43 win over University of Pittsburgh – Titusville.  The win snaps an eight game losing streak dating back to December 10.  Junior Kierstin Steer (South Williamsport) added 11 points in the win that improves the team to 2-15 overall.

Steer started the game with a jumper that put the Wildcats on top first.  Titusville came back to take the lead with a three from Geena Sneeringer.  Three more lead changes and a tie followed over the next five minutes before Titusville gained some momentum holding the lead until a 4-0 run capped off by a jumper from freshman Dana Reed (Sunbury) gave the Wildcats the lead at 11:21.

Reed ended the game with eight while Sneeringer led her team with 12.

Penn College built its lead up to eight before going into the break up 22-16.  In the opening half, the team shot .281 (9-32) and outrebounded the Panthers 30-19.

In the second half, freshman Brianna Savini (Reading) hit a three at 17:18 to give the Wildcats their largest lead at 29-19.  Titusville stayed calm and slowly climbed back bringing it to 42-41 with less than a minute remaining.  The Wildcats were sent to the line and scored seven points in the last minute to clinch the win.

Savini ended the game with five.

Next up, Penn College hosts Penn State Hazleton on Tuesday, Jan. 31 for a 6 p.m. game.
