Lady Lions Cruise Past York

York, PA- The Lady Lions of Penn State Beaver (12-6, 9-2 PSUAC) played an on the road game this afternoon against Penn State York (York, PA).

A steal by Amanda Temple (Avella/Avella, PA) lead to a layup by Kalynn Hill (Montour/Pittsburgh, PA) putting Beaver on the board first. Coleen Mead (Newport Harbor/Costa Mesa, CA) hit a three pointer to begin a 13-1 Lady Lion run for the opening minutes of the game. Beaver shot 7-9 from three point range and went into the half with a huge 43-17 lead.

Brooke Mulneix (Riverside/Beaver Falls, PA) made the first shot of the second half to start a 10-5 run for Beaver. York tried to gain some momentum but a Brittney Bradley (McKinley/Washington D.C) jumpshot gave the Lady Lions their biggest lead of the day (30.) The Lady Lions went on to win the game 72-37.

For the afternoon, Mead and Brittany Tomaselli (East Liverpool/East Liverpool, OH) lead the team with 11 points each. Kayona Ward (Beaver Falls/Beaver Falls, PA) lead the team with 13 rebounds as well.  The Lady Lions shot 52.8% from the field, 45% from three point range, and 53.8% from the free throw line.

Beaver goes back on the road on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 6pm against PSUAC rival Penn State DuBois (DuBois, PA).
