Carlow Stops Beaver's Home Record

Monaca, PA- Penn State Beaver's Lady Lions (11-6, 8-2 PSUAC) played an out of conference game this evening against Carlow University (Pittsburgh, PA).

The game started out close, with six lead changes and six ties as well before Carlow went on a 6-0 run to give them a ten point lead (33-23). The Lady Lions struggled on defense, and went into halftime trailing 42-29.

Carlow took the second half's first two points before Beaver began to respond. A Kalynn Hill (Montour/Pittsburgh, PA) steal and assist to Brooke Mulneix (Riverside/Beaver Falls, PA) brought Beaver back to within ten. Mulneix hit a three point shot with 16:13 left in the game bringing the Lady Lions within six (46-40) but Carlow kept their lead to ten for most of the game. Although Beaver outscored Carlow in the second half 27-25, the Lady Lions went on to lose 67-56. 

Amanda Temple (Avella/Avella, PA) lead the Lady Lions this evening with 21 points, followed by Mulneix with 13. Beaver shot 33.3% from the field, 21.7% from three point range, and 61.9% from the free throw line.

The Lady Lions go back on the road this Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 1pm against Penn State York (York, PA).
