Valentine Notches 13 in Loss to Knights

 WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Freshman Bryanna Valentine (Mifflinburg) notched 13 points and seven rebounds as the Pennsylvania College of Technology women's basketball team dropped its eighth straight game with a 70-39 loss to Southern Virginia University.  The loss drops the team to 1-16 overall.

Out of the gate, the Wildcats were on top off a jumper freshman Dana Reed (Sunbury).  After back and forth play and the game tied at four, Southern Virginia went on a 7-0 run to take the lead with just over 12 minutes to go.   

 Reed ended the night with nine points and 10 rebounds.

At 10:19, Penn College went on a 6-0 run, three from Brianna Savini (Reading), to bring it to 18-14.  The Knights built their lead up from there though going into the break up 38-18. 

In the half, turnovers were a problem as the Wildcats committed 22 allowing 23 points from Southern Virginia.

The second half was much of the same as the Knights scored 32 points to Penn College's 21.  For the game, the Knights out-rebounded Penn College 45-42 and had 28 steals.  Penn College committed 41 turnovers.  

Also for the Wildcats, freshman Allison Van Metter (Saylorsburg) had nine points going 3-4 (.750) from the arc.  For Southern Virginia, Amaris Newkirk had 17 points and Nicole Baker and Cara Joyner added 12 and 10, respectively.  

Next up, Penn College hosts Pitt-Titusville on Saturday, Jan. 28 for a 1 p.m. game.
