Beaver Women's Basketball- The Come Back Kids

Monaca, PA- The Lady Lions of Penn State Beaver (2-1, 0-0 PSUAC) played their first home game of the season against Geneva College (Beaver Falls, PA).

Beaver started out the game on a 12-0 run before Geneva finally made a layup five minutes in. The Golden Tornadoes went on a 9-0 run of their own before Junior Brittany Tomaselli (East Liverpool/East Liverpool, OH) hit a jumphot ending the run. Geneva brought the game within three multiple times but everytime they got close, Brooke Mulneix (Riverside/Beaver Falls, PA), Tomaselli, and Coleen Mead (Newport Harbor/Costa Mesa, CA) hit three point shots back to back. Beaver had a seven point lead with five minutes left in the half. However, the game was tied at 25 with 4:03 left. Geneva took the lead at 2:33 but Mead had a key three point shot giving the Lady Lions the lead back at 28-27. A foul on Beaver unfortunately gave Geneva the 29-28 lead at the half.

To start the second half out, Geneva went on a 5-0 run before Beaver answered with foul shots. The Golden Tornadoes pretty much dominated the second half keeping their lead to at least three before their 49-39 lead with 7:30 left in the game. Their biggest lead of the game. Beaver ended this run storming back with fastbreak points from Tomaselli and Hali DeSarro (East Liverpool/East Liverpool, OH) consecutively. Amanda Temple (Avella/Avella, PA) pretty much took over the game for about two minutes, scoring nine points within that time span. Those nine points gave Beaver their first lead of the second half 53-51 with 2:51 left in the game. The game was tied at 53 and 54 before Geneva sent Mulneix, Tomaselli, and Temple to the free throw line, giving Beaver the win 57-54.

Beaver shot 30.4% from the field for the game while Geneva shot 35.4%. Temple led the team for the evening with 17 points and 8 rebounds, followed by Mulneix with 16 points and 4 rebounds, and Tomaselli with 10 points of her own.
