Pennsylvania College of Technology Women’s Basketball Dropped Season Opener

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Despite 18 points from junior Kierstin Steer (South Williamsport), the Pennsylvania College of Technology women's basketball team dropped its season opener 75-65 to Central Penn College. In the opening half, Penn College (0-1) allowed the Knights to jump out to a 4-0 lead before going on a 6-0 run, four from Steer, to take the lead. At 13:40 tied at eight, Central Penn (3-0) went on a 12-0 tear to make it 20-8. The Wildcats chipped away and tied it at 30 with just over two minutes left in the half. After some buckets from each side, Penn College went into halftime down 34-32.In the half, the Wildcats shot .367 (11-30) from the field while Central Penn was .444 (16-36).Out of the break, the Knights came out hot and built up a 12-point lead with just over 17 left. At 16:15 down 50-36, Penn College went on an 8-0 run, three from freshman Niesha Williams (Williamsport) to make it a six-point game.Williams finished the game with 14 points going 4-8 from the arc. Central Penn regained a comfortable lead and cruised into the victory with a final score of 75-65.As a team, Penn College was outrebounded 52-42 and shot .373 (25-67) from the field. Williams led the team with nine rebounds while Steer added four steals.Next up, Penn College hosts The Apprentice School for a 1 p.m. game on Saturday, Nov. 12.
