Softball: Lady Wildcats Bats Fall Silent in Losses to Elmira

 

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Totaling only three hits in two games, the Pennsylvania College of Technology softball team was swept by Elmira College 9-0 and 8-0 Wednesday. The Eagles' pitching staff was nearly perfect in the two games with 20 strikeouts. The losses drop the Wildcats to 3-13 overall.  

  

In game one, it was all Alex Puglisi as she dominated Penn College allowing two hits and striking out 13. Sophomore Britni Fennel (Conygnham) and freshman Katie Kratzer (Selinsgrove) recorded the hits for Penn College. 

 

After three scoreless innings, the Eagles got on board in the fourth with a run off of two hits. They tacked on four more runs in the sixth and seventh ending the game with the nine point cushion.

 

Freshman Christina Mignot (Hughesville) recorded the loss with five earned runs and a strikeout with the Wildcats committing four errors behind her.

 

It was much of the same in game two as Katie Hobson allowed only one hit in five innings of work. She struck out seven. Sophomore Stephanie Koleno (Moshannon) notched the only hit of the game.

 

The Eagles put up a run in the first on a home run by Mikayla Bean. Two innings later they added four more runs off of five hits including a home run from Ashley Palmer.

 

Elmira was able to end the game early scoring its eighth run in the fifth.

 

Junior Lacy Lose (Avis) recorded the loss with six earned runs and one strikeout.

 

Next up, Penn College travels to Penn State Fayette on Saturday, Apr. 6 for a 2 p.m. doubleheader.
