Softball: Warriors Sweep Penn College

 

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Just a short distance across town, the Pennsylvania College of Technology softball team faced a tough Lycoming College squad losing both contests of a doubleheader Tuesday. The Warriors won 12-0 and 22-2 ending both games in five. With the losses, the Wildcats fall to 2-8 overall.  

 

In the opener, Holly Lansberry pitched five strong allowing no hits three walks with eight strikeouts. She got some cushion from the Lycoming (7-5) offense as they scored five in the second, four in the third and three in the fourth.

 

Freshman Kimberly Walter (Beavertown) recorded the loss pitching all five innings with three strikeouts and three walks.

 

The Wildcat offense started to get going in game two as the team totaled five hits. Down 8-0 in the third, sophomore Stephanie Koleno (Moshannon) hit an RBI single with the bases loaded. Freshman Rachael Schaeffer (Hampstead, Md.) followed with a sacrifice fly to notch an RBI and bring the team within six.

 

Lycoming came back and put it out of reach with a 10-run fourth ending the game with the 20 run advantage. Junior starter Lacy Lose (Avis) earned the loss pitching the first 3 1/3 innings allowing 12 hits with one strikeout. Freshman Delaney Blubaugh (Waynesboro) finished the game allowing seven hits.

 

Next up, Penn College hosts Penn State Mont Alto on Thursday, Mar. 28 for a 2 p.m. conference doubleheader.
