Softball: Lady Wildcats Split on Day One of Spring Break Tournament

 

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - It was a tale of two games as the Pennsylvania College of Technology softball team split its two games on day one of the Snowbird Softball Tournament in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The Lady Wildcats dominated in the opener against Gordon College 13-2 before being stunned 14-0 by Juniata College. Junior Lacy Lose (Avis) recorded the win against Gordon with eight strikeouts and no earned runs.

 

Against Gordon, Penn College (1-1) totaled 14 teams hits scoring 10 runs in the first three innings. Lose helped her cause in the game going 2 for 3 with four RBI. Freshman Katie Kratzer (Selinsgrove) led with three hits including a triple. Sophomores Stephanie Koleno (Moshannon) and Casey Davis (New Albany) each were 2 for 3 with an RBI.

 

Three more runs in the fourth and fifth ended the game early.

 

With 13 runs in the first, Juniata built up an insurmountable lead. Penn College could put together only two hits, one each from Koleno and freshman Kimberly Walter (Beavertown). Freshman Delaney Blubaugh (Waynesboro) recorded the loss with seven runs. Walter came in relief giving up seven, but settled after the second allowing no hits for the remainder of the game.

 

Next up, the Lady Wildcats tkae on Philadelphia University and Waldorf College on Tuesday, Mar. 12 starting at 9 a.m.
