Beaver wins first contest of the day in Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach, SC --- In Beaver's first game of the day, they defeated Henry Ford Community College by a score of 6-0.

The Lady Lions got the bats going early as they had one hit and one run in the first inning with five players getting on base in the inning. They also played great defense as they kept Henry Ford off of the base paths and even caused them to commit errors in the field.

In the third inning Beaver got the momentum going with Nicole Bowersox (Penns Valley, PA/Penn Valley) getting hit by a pitch, Myranda Robson (Rochester, PA/Rochester) getting on base with a fielders choice and then stealing second and Lauren Pier (New Brighton, PA/New Brighton) singling to advance the runner. The big bats continued as Korey Freyermuth (Pittsburgh, PA/Perry) hit another single to eventually score both runs due to errors in the field. From here the Lady Lions never looked back and took their three run lead into the fifth inning where they scored another run.

Beaver's consistent offense carried them into the seventh inning where they scored their final two runs of the game on a Robson double and a home run by Lauren Pier, her first of the year. Their nearly flawless defense kept Henry Ford off of the scoreboard in this match-up and increased their overall record to 2-4.

Leading the offense in this game were junior, Lauren Pier who went 3 for 3 from the plate with a 2 run home run, freshman, Myranda Robson who was 1 for 4 with a double and Nicole Bowersox, Rachel Borrell (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown East) and Alisha Saunders (Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk) who all had one hit in the game.

Freyermuth was on the mound for the Lady Lions giving up only 5 hits and striking out 6 with no earned runs in the game.
