Beaver drops their second game with Rivier

Myrtle Beach, SC --- The Lady Lions faced Rivier in their only game of the day this morning, the second time they have played them this week. Unlike the first meeting, the Lady Lions weren't able to get the offense going and fell behind early and were never able to make up the differene.

In the first inning, Rivier came out hitting and never looked back. Junior, Lauren Pier (New Brighton, PA/New Brighton) had the only hit in the first inning. Rivier continued to hit well in the second inning, but this time it looked like Beaver was going to battle back. A lead off single by senior, Korey Freyermuth (Pittsburgh, PA/Perry) got things started and Sydney Brinton (Pittsburgh, PA/Brashear) followed suit. But despite advancing runners to second and third, the offense wasn't able to earn a run.

The third inning was much the same, but this time it was Rachel Borrell (Downington, PA/Downingtown East) with a double trying to get things going. The Lady Lions just could not string together enough hits each inning to score the runners who were in scoring position. Nicole Bowersox (Penns Valley, PA/Penn Valley) gave her best effort to keep Beaver in the game with a triple in the fifth inning, but was unable to score.

The Lady Lions were lead offensively by Brinton with 2 hits, Bowersox with her triple and Borrell with her double. On the mound for Beaver was Freyermuth who in five innings gave up 12 hits, 5 earned runs and was able to strike out three.

Beaver is back in action tomorrow morning when they face Henry Ford at 9:30 a.m. followed by Tennesse Wesley JV at 11:30 a.m.
