Beaver wraps up their Spring Trip as they face Nyack

Myrtle Beach, SC --- On the final day of play for the Lady Lions on their spring trip, they faced Division II Nyack.

Nyack jumped out to an early two run lead after two innings, but Beaver got their bats going in the third inning when Nicole Bowersox (Penns Valley, PA/Penn Valley) singled followed by Myranda Robson (Rocester, PA/Rochester) who also reached first base safely on an error by the Nyack third baseman. With runners on first and second, junior, Lauren Pier (New Brighton, PA/New Brighton) who has had a hot bat in the second part of the week hit a single to score Bowersox.

Despite the great efforts of the Lady Lions offense the pitching and defense of Nyack proved to be too much for Beaver to overcome. Leading the offense this morning for Beaver was Bowersox, Pier and Rachael Charlier (Burgettstown, PA/Burgettstown) who each had one hit in the game.

On the mound for Beaver was senior, Korey Freyermuth (Pittsburgh, PA/Perry) who threw one of her best games of the week giving up 9 hits, but striking out 9 of the 29 batters faced.

The Lady Lions return to action next Thursday, March 14th at 3 p.m. when they play Thiel College at home for a double header.
