Lady Wildcats End Season with Sweep of PSU Scranton

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Sophomore Lacy Lose (Avis) and freshman Emily Yoder (Catawissa) each recorded wins in the Pennsylvania College of Technology softball team's sweep of Penn State Scranton 6-4, 6-2.  Lose won the first game striking out a season high 12 batters while Yoder had four.  The games are the final two for the Wildcats that end the 2012 season 6-24 overall and 5-11 in the Penn State University Athletic Conference.

In the opener, Scranton scored a run early with a two-base throwing error in the first.  The lead was held until the Wildcats put up five in the fifth which included a two-RBI single from freshman Cora Bova (Port Allegany).

The Lions made it a 5-4 game with three runs in the sixth, all off a home run from Tara Grabowski.  Freshman Lindsey Anderson (Heber Springs, Ark.) hit an RBI triple in the sixth giving Penn College a 6-4 cushion.  The team held on as Lose shut down the Lions in the seventh.

In the game, the Wildcats totaled eight hits with freshman Stephanie Keifrider (Douglassville) going 3-4 with the RBI.

Penn College was on the board first in game two with four runs in the second.  Keifrider, Yoder, and freshmen Abbey Winn (Howard) and Casey Davis (New Albany) all recorded RBI.   Yoder ended the game with two hits.

Scranton chipped away with two runs in the fifth, both unearned off an error.  RBI from freshmen Stephanie Koleno (Moshannon) and Britni Fennell (Conyngham) put it out of reach for the Lions.  Koleno ended the game 3-4 with the RBI and a run.

The Wildcats finish the season seventh in the PSUAC.
