Lady Lions Win First Conference Game of the Season

Williamsport, Pa.- The Women's Softball Team of Penn State Beaver (7-15, 2-0 PSUAC) went on the road this afternoon for their first game in the PSUAC Conference  this season against the Lady Wildcats of Penn College (Williamsport, PA).

In game one, the Lady Lions jumped out to a quick 3-0 start in the top of the first. After Lauren Pier (New Brighton/New Brighton, Pa) and Lindsey Scialdone (Ellwood City/Ellwood City, Pa) both recorded a single, Pier advanced to third soon after. Myranda Raymond (Brashear/Pittsburgh, Pa) recorded a RBI scoring in Pier. Scialdone stole home after pitcher Korey Freyermuth (Perry/Pittsburgh, Pa) was hit with the ball. Beaver scored four more runs in the second, and six more in the fifth, winning game one easily 13-0. Freyermuth pitched five innings, only allowing two hits, and striking out six players.

In game two, Beaver played another great game, winning 3-0. Freyermuth pitched five innings, allowing not one single hit, and striking out three people.

The Lady Lions will play their first home game of the season Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at 2 p.m. against Penn State New Kensington (New Kensington, Pa).
