Men's soccer loses to Penn State Greater Allegheny

Monaca, PA- Penn State Beaver men's soccer loses to Penn State Greater Allegheny making their conference record 2-5.

In the first half, Beaver looked as if they could easily win the match with a goal by Marcus Smith (Pittsburgh, PA/Perry) at the 2:31 mark. Unfortunately, two minutes later Greater Allegheny was able to score to tie up the match. The upset came when Greater Allegheny scored again at the 6:40 mark taking the lead.

In the second half, the game was left scoreless but Beaver still played their most physical and emotionally driven game. Beaver was able to shoot the ball 25 times, most of which missed the goal by only several feet. The second half was a constant battle of physicality and drive, both of which were present in Beaver's playing strategy. Most of the drive came from Smith, who seems to be a key player every time Beaver faces an opponent. Beaver was not able to score any additional points, making Greater Allegheny's last goal the goal that won them the game. The final score was, 2-1, Greater Allegheny.

Beaver faces off against Penn State Wilkes-Barre next, on October 5th at 1 p.m., hopefully their drive and heart continues make them challenging opponents.
