Wildcat Soccer Rolls Over PSU Schuylkill 12-0

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Junior Christopher Brennan (New Hope), sophomore Jose Gomez-Zavala (Kennett Square) and freshman Christopher Rutledge (Macungie) each scored two goals as the Pennsylvania College of Technology men's soccer team beat Penn State Schuylkill 12-0. The Wildcats outshot Schuylkill 52-3. Junior David Munn (Athens) and freshman Samuel Piatt (Bedford) shared the shutout with Munn notching one save and Piatt two. The win improves Penn College to 4-1-1 and 3-0 in the Penn State University Athletic Conference.

The Wildcats scored eight unanswered goals in the first half. Freshman Christian Dressler (Mifflintown) opened it up the fifth netting a deflection off the keeper. In almost the exact same play, Gomez-Zavala scored just two minutes later. He made it 3-0 with a goal in the 20th.

Senior Ben Shade (Fleetwood) assisted on a goal by freshman Luke McFalls (New Oxford) in the 24th followed by back-to-back goals from Brennan in the 30th and 34th. Sophomore Talila Tolla (Mountville) scored in the 37th then assisted sophomore Braden Conner's (Reading) goal in the 38th closing out the half.

Penn College totaled 30 shots in the half.

In the second half, Rutledge scored his first goal in the 76th followed by freshman Yousef Alyamani (Jeddah, Saudi Arabia) in the 80th. It was Rutledge again in the 81st before a 90th minute goal from freshman Ali Almehdhar (Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia) to close it out.

For Schuylkill, keeper Alex Miller had an impressive 20 saves on the afternoon.

Next up, the Penn College travels to Wilkes University for a 7 p.m. game on Tuesday, Sept. 18.
