Comeback Kids; Beaver Beats Schuylkill, 3-1

September 25, 2011

Unionville, PA - The Penn State Beaver Men's Soccer Team beat Penn State Schuylkill (Schuylkill Haven, PA), 3-1, with a second half offensive surge.

In the first half, Beaver controlled the tempo of the game, as Jason Schachter (Langley/Pittsburgh, PA) and Pat Vaughan (Seton-LaSalle/Pittsburgh, PA) both had quality scoring opportunities for the Lions.

However, Beaver found themselves in a 1-0 hole at the half, as Schuylkill scored on a penalty kick, which beat keeper Brad Prinkey (Freedom/Freedom, PA).

In the second half, however, Beaver took full control of the game, despite the heavy rains which made the playing conditions difficult for both teams.

Beaver tied the game up when Mike Biskup (Center/Aliquippa, PA) sent a through ball to freshman forward, Mahmoud Helal (Choueifat-Egypt/Cairo, Egypt) who beat the Schuylkill keeper on the short-side. Biskup was on the receiving end for Beaver's second goal as he capitalized on a DJ Kemerer (Quaker Valley/Sewickley, PA) in the 65th minute to give Beaver a lead they would not relinquish.

Beaver's last tally came on a Schachter rebound (unassisted) to give them an important insurance goal and make the final 3-1.

The win pushes Beaver to 2-2 in PSUAC play (2-8 overall). Beaver will travel on the road to Penn State New Kensington (New Kensington, PA) on Wednesday, September 28 at 4 p.m. as they look to go over .500 in the PSUAC.
