Fall 2011 Men's Soccer: PSUAC Playoffs PSU Brandywine

Sophomore Chris Brennan equalized in the 18th for the Wildcats

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Junior Ben Shade (Fleetwood) scored the game winner and added an assist as the Pennsylvania College of Technology defeated Penn State Brandywine 3-1 in the Penn State University Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Semifinals. The Wildcats will face the winner of #1 Penn State York and #4 Penn State Hazleton on Saturday, Oct. 29.

Brandywine (8-7-1, 7-2-1 PSUAC) was the first to strike as Jim Kallarakal took a pass from Andrew McSweeney and dodged the defense with speed in the fourth minute. The Wildcats kept their composure though and in the 18th sophomore Chris Brennan (New Hope) saw an opening and put a ball into the upper left corner of the goal from 25 yards out.

Just 34 seconds later, Penn College (11-6-2, 8-1-1) took the lead when Shade dribbled the ball past the defense and sent a shot into the corner of the goal. The Wildcats went into the half up 2-1.

Senior William DeAngelo (Dallas) gave the Wildcats some cushion in the 86th when he netted a ball off a cross from Shade.

As a team, Penn College outshot the Lions 32-12 and had eight corner kicks. Freshman keeper Aaron Volz (West Chester) records the win with six saves.

The game is the second time this season the two teams have played. On Sept. 3, the teams played to a 2-2 draw.

The championship game will begin at 1 p.m. at the highest seed.
