Hazleton Edges York to Repeat as Golf Champs; Snyder Cruises to Medalist Honors

CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Penn State York's Logan Snyder was on a mission. In 2021, Snyder won multiple individual events but a disappointing finish in the PSUAC Championships spoiled an otherwise outstanding season. That would not become a trend.

Snyder fired an even par 72 on Tuesday at the Penn State Blue Course, one day after a one-under 71, to capture PSUAC Individual Medalist honors at the 2022 PSUAC Golf Championships. Snyder cleared the PSUAC field by 10 shots, with his next closest competitors coming from Penn State Hazleton in Colin Hoy (+9, 153) and defending champion Jeremy Harper (+10, 154).

Not only did Snyder capture PSUAC gold, but he also became the first PSUAC golfer to win the USCAA National Championship Individual Medalist honors, beating out 111 other golfers. Heading into the final round tied with Ryan Regner of Johnson & Wales Charlotte, Snyder eded him by two on Tuesday to claim the crown.

On the team front, Penn State Hazleton won by a razor thin margin over Snyder's York squad, capturing their second straight team title. Hazleton finished fourth in the USCAA team race and first in the PSUAC at 645 over two days. York was one stroke shy of a tie, finishing at 646 over two days.

York coach Joe Downing was named the PSUAC Coach of the Year after leading his team to four team tournament titles during the season. Full All-Conference awards are included on the Championship page linked at the top.
