Men’s Basketball: Wildcats Battle in 98-88 Loss to Central Penn

 

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Freshman Marquis Delgado (Mansfield) scored 13 points and notched nine assists in the Pennsylvania College of Technology's men's basketball team's 98-88 loss to Central Penn Monday night. The Knights had some strong shooting going 40-76 (.526) from the field and scored 58 of its points in the paint. Penn College kept the game close tying it four times, but could not overcome some quick runs. Also for the Wildcats, sophomore Nathaniel Brown (Philadelphia) recorded 13 points while freshmen Thomas Ross (Williamsport) and Ezra Adams (Muncy) each adding 12. The loss now drops Penn College to 1-9 overall.  

  

Out of the gate, Penn College was hot with a 7-0 run started by a three from freshman Vincent Mauck (Philadelphia). Two back-to-back free throws from Brown gave the team its highest lead of the game at 14-6 in the 14th. The Knights countered with its own run tying it at 14 all at 12:14. 

 

Five more ties ensued until Central Penn took its largest lead of the half at 46-35. They went into the break up 48-40.

 

For the half, the Wildcats shot 15-37 (.405) from the field and totaled 24 rebounds.

 

The Knights led for the entire second half, but Penn College kept it tight bringing to within two at 16:30.

 

Strong shooting from Central Penn allowed them to keep the Wildcats at bay as they shot 19-37 (.514) in the half.

 

For the game, the Wildcats totaled 50 rebounds with Adams leading with nine and Ross and junior James Boylan (Newton, N.J.) each adding seven. They shot 35-82 (.427) from the field and were strong on the charity stripe going 10-17 (.588). Also for the Wildcats, freshman Bryce Lonsway (Tiffin, Ohio) scored 10 points.

 

Penn College takes a break for the holidays before hosting Penn State Fayette on Saturday, Jan. 11 at 3p.m.
