Beaver picks up second conference win of the season

Schuylkill, PA -- The Lions of Beaver traveled to Penn State Schuylkill on Friday night for the first of two big conference road games this weekend.

To open the game, Beaver's Rob Agurs (Pittsburgh, PA/Penn Hills) hit a two-point jump shot and then they never looked back. Halfway through the half, Beaver had a comfortable 11 point lead (21-10) which they were able to add to by halftime thanks to the team shooting 50% from the field. Senior, Chris Weathers (New Brighton, PA/New Brighton) led the team this half with 14 points which was a large contribution to the 18 point lead the Lions carried into the half (41-23).

In the second half, it was Agurs again who came out scoring for Beaver as the team was able to score almost at will against Schuylkill. With just under ten minutes remaining in the half, Beaver had increased their lead to 33 (71-38) and then cruised to victory by a final score of 92-62.

Thirteen of Beaver's fifteen rostered players saw minutes in the game with the scoring being led by Weathers with 22. Also scoring in the double digits were Agurs with 18, senior, Nick Miller (Beaver Falls, PA/Beaver Falls) with 14 and junior, Tiere Phillips (Pittsburgh, PA/Penn Hills) with 11.

This gives Beaver their second conference win as they travel to Penn State Brandywine Saturday for a 3:00 p.m. tip.
