Beaver Ends Fayette's Winning Streak

Monaca, PA- Penn State Beaver's Mens Basketball Team (14-4, 10-1 PSUAC) played against Penn State Fayette (Uniontown, PA) tonight. Coming into the game, Fayette was 4-0 in the PSUAC looking to keep their streak alive.

The game started out intense, as both teams went back and forth on multiple lead changes in the opening minutes. A three point shot from Senior Darius Prince (West Mifflin/Pittsburgh, PA) at the 14:42 mark gave Beaver a lead they would never lose. Fayette attempted to keep up with Beaver but found themselves trailing in the game down 50-33 at halftime.

Nick Miller (Beaver Falls/Beaver Falls, PA) opened up the second half with five straight points giving Beaver a 55-35 advantage. It wasn't until 2:54 left in the game that Fayette tried to come back trailing 95-82, but Chris Weathers (New Brighton/New Brighton, PA) kept Beaver on top. Beaver went on to win for the night 107-84, giving Fayette their first loss in the PSUAC this season.

For the night, Miller lead all scorers with 29 points, followed by Weathers with 18, Patrick Horton (Farrell/Farrell, PA) with 16, and Tyler Care (Lincoln Park/Hopewell, PA) and Prince with 11 each. Prince also lead the team with 8 rebounds. Beaver shot 45.6% from the field, 38.5% from three point range, and 65.2% from the free throw line.

Beaver will return to action on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at 8pm at home against Penn State New Kensington (New Kensington, PA). Wednesday is Penn State Spirit Night and free Beaver pennants will be given away to those in attendance.
