Penn College Edges Out Lions in First Win of Season

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. –  Freshman Scott Fenton (Dickson City) notched a season high 22 points to the lead the Pennsylvania College of Technology to a 63-59 win over Penn State Mont Alto.  Down 59-58 with 1:48 remaining in the game, the Wildcats tied it up with a made free throw from sophomore Ethan Kline (Bellefonte).  A missed jumper by the Lions allowed for Fenton to hit a layup for the lead.  Another missed jumper forced Mont Alto to foul and Kline finished out the game making two from the line to clinch it. 

Penn College (1-7, 1-1 PSUAC) opened the game on a 5-0 run, three from freshman Colton Acorn (Wellsboro).  The Lions slowly chipped away before taking a 12-10 lead at 13:36 off a three from Jeffrey Bowie.  A free throw from freshman James Boylan (Newton, N.J.) tied the game at 20 with just under eight left in the half.  Penn College tied it up two more times before the Lions went into the half just up 33-31.

In the half, the Wildcats shot .400 (12-30) from the field.  Boylan ended the game with six.

In the second, Acorn hit a free throw at 18:13 to give the Wildcats the 34-33 lead following freshman Bryant House's (Columbia Cross Roads) layup to tie the game.  Fenton hit a layup at 14:44 to give the Wildcats their largest lead of the half at 44-37.  Mont Alto was persistent though and put together a run that gave them a 50-48 advantage.

House finished the game with seven points and 10 rebounds.

With just over three minutes left, the Lions had the 59-54 lead when Fenton hit a layup followed by a steal and another layup from Kline that put the team to within one at the 1:48 mark.

Kline finished the game with seven points and three steals. Penn College finished the game showing .375 (24-64) from the field.  They outrebounded the Lions 58-28 scoring 23 second chance points.  Freshman Jason Greenfield (Wellsboro) lead the team with 13 rebounds.
