Beaver takes two from GA

On a day that featured 5 home runs, Penn State Beaver won both games of the doubleheader by scores of 6-4 and 7-5.

Tyler Schuster (Beaver Falls, Beaver Falls High School) started game one for Beaver, giving up two earned runs on four hits and went the complete game while earning the win. Beaver's offense was led by Zack DelTurco (Monaca, Monaca) who finished the day with four RBI including a game winning three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning. Mike Karas (Imperial, West Allegheny) had two hits for Beaver and Cory Wagner (Monaca, Center) had two hits, a solo home run and a double and finished with two RBI.

Game two saw DelTurco take the hill for Beaver and he went 5 innings giving up four earned runs on six hits and this resulted in him picking up the win. Beaver then got a strong relief inning from Ronnie Wilkins (Hookstown, South Side) and Schuster closed the game out in the 7th and earned a save. Alex Filippi (Aliquippa, Center), Garrett Covalt (Aliquippa, Hopewell), Jimmy Musgrave (Economy, Ambridge) and Karas each finished with two hits in game two.  Filippi and Karas each had an RBI while Andrew DiPietrantonio finished with two RBI.

At the moment, the victories puts Beaver in first place in the PSUAC and they will play tomorrow at Penn State Hazelton and then finish up PSUAC conference regular season play on Saturday when they play at Penn State Scranton.
