Beaver loses twice to UC Clermont

On a Friday afternoon in Monaca, Penn State Beaver dropped two games to UC Clermont by scores of 10-7 and 12-9.

The first game of the doubleheader saw Tyler Schuster(Beaver Falls, Beaver Falls High School) took the hill for the start, going 5 and 1/3 innings, giving up 1 earned run on 6 hits and striking out 4 while suffering the loss. James Pashuta (Beaver Falls, Beaver Falls), Tom Lewis(Aliquippa, Hopewell), and Cory Wagner (Monaca, Center) each had a double while Zack DelTurco(Monaca, Monaca) had two doubles. DelTurco, Lewis, Wagner and Jimmy Musgrave (Economy, Ambridge) each had two hits for Beaver. DelTurco had three RBI while Lewis, Markus Allen (New Castle, Union) and Wagner each had one.

In game 2, Vinny Beatty (Rochester, Rochester) got the start going 4 and 1/3 innings, allowing 5 earned runs on 5 hits and struck out 4 while taking the loss. Alex Filippi(Aliquippa, Center), DelTurco and Garrett Covalt(Aliquippa, Hopewell) each had two hits. Filippi had 3 RBI while DelTurco drove in 2 and Lewis also had an RBI.

Beaver will be back in action on Saturday when they play Clark State at home with games scheduled to start at 12 and 2.
