Beaver falls twice to Point Park

At Penn State Beaver, the Penn State Beaver baseball team hosted Point Park University for a doubleheader. The final scores on the day were 1-0 and 14-4, both Point Park victories.

The starting pitcher in game 1 for Beaver was Cory Wagner (Monaca, Center High School), who went the complete game allowing zero earned runs on four hits while striking out three. Unfortunately, the Beaver offense was unable to really get going in the first game, collecting only five hits in the contest. James Pashuta (Beaver Falls, Beaver Falls) had a triple and Garrett Covalt (Aliquippa, Hopewell) had a double.

In game two, the Beaver offense performed much better in this contest, having 12 hits in the game. The offense was led by Alex Filippi (Monaca, Center), Pashuta and Tom Lewis (Aliquippa, Hopewell) who each had two hits. Lewis finished the game with two doubles. Filippi, Andrew DiPietrantonio (Beaver, Beaver) and Markus Allen (New Castle, Union) each had an RBI.

Beaver drops to 10-11 overall and remain 5-1 in conference play. Beaver will host UC Clermont on Friday with game times scheduled to start at 2 and 4.
