Mont Alto Extends PSUAC Chancellor's Cup Lead After Winter Sports Season
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State Mont Alto extended its fall lead in the PSUAC Chancellor's Cup after the winter season, capturing the PSUAC Men's Basketball championship and seeing its women's team advance to the quarterfinals of the postseason. What was a 4.5 point lead over Penn State York is now an eight-point advantage for the south-central campus.
Mont Alto has now captured two PSUAC Championships in the 2024-2025 academic year, including both golf and men's basketball. The Mont Alto volleyball team also finished as runners-up to add to its total of 49.0 points through the winter.
Despite having no championships to its name this year, York has maintained its no. 2 spot. York is the only team in the top five of the Chancellor's Cup standings without a conference title, instead relying on consistently competitive programs across the board. Each of their teams have advanced to the PSUAC postseason, with their best finish being a second place finish in golf. The women's basketball team made it to the semifinals and the men's team advanced to the quarters.
Penn State Schuylkill sits in third at 39.0 points, while Penn State Beaver catapulted to fourth on the strength of it's Women's Basketball championship last weekend, sitting at 31.5 points. Penn State Hazleton claims the fifth spot at 30.5 points.
The PSUAC Chancellor's Cup awards points based on conference finish in the postseason, with teams receiving points in a descending fashion. Teams that do not make the playoffs also receive points based on overall conference record. The final standings will be released after the PSUAC Spring Championships, including baseball and softball.
