2024 PSUAC 3's for THON Raises Nearly $8,000

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The fourth annual 3's for THON event organized by the PSUAC's Student-Athlete Advisory Council raised more than $8,000 in 2024 as a record 13 campuses participated in the initiative. The total also exceeds the previous record of just over $7,000, set in 2020.

Participating campuses held fundraisers for Penn State's THON between January 20 and February 3, 2024. Multiple campuses chose to raise funds at more than one game, with all proceeds benefitting the Four Diamonds Fund, which supports pediatric cancer research and family support at Penn State Health's Children's Hospital in Hershey, Pa.

Penn State Scranton led the way with $1,807 raised, while Penn State Brandywine raised $1,680. Other campuses to clear the $1,000 mark included Penn State Beaver at $1,428 and Penn State Mont Alto with $1,120.

Each campus athletic program chooses its gameday fundraiser, with offerings varying from raffle baskets to donation baskets to contests, including Mont Alto's popular "Pie in the Face" fundraiser. Funds generated during the event are then donated through the respective campus' THON student group, which ultimately makes its way to the Four Diamonds Fund.

The PSUAC Student-Athlete Advisory Council consists of two student-athletes from each of the PSUAC campuses, one male and one female. The group organizes multiple events throughout the year in addition to 3's for THON, including the fall semester's Spirit Week and the spring's Volunteer Week.
