Mont Alto Takes Command of PSUAC Chancellor's Cup Race after Winter Season

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State Mont Alto held their lead in the Chancellor's Cup race after the winter season with 50.5 points, as both basketball teams advanced to the PSUAC quarterfinals. Mont Alto led Penn State Brandywine by four points after the fall sports season, and now leads by two with baseball and softball still to play.

Making the biggest jump in the winter standings was Penn State York, who vaulted from fourth to second on the strength of a men's basketball championship and their women's basketball team making the semifinals of the PSUAC tournament. Brandywine fell to third with 44 points, 6.5 off the pace. Brandywine has won the two most recent full season Chancellor's Cups.

Mont Alto still leads the conference with two championships, as women's soccer and volleyball won their respective conference titles in the fall. The remaining four championships are spread out, with Penn State Beaver (women's basketball), Penn State Brandywine (men's soccer), Penn State Hazleton (golf) and York (men's basketball) each picking up one championship.

Penn State Lehigh Valley made a jump from seventh to fourth after their women's basketball team were the runners-up in the PSUAC tournament and their men's basketball team made a thrilling run to the semifinals. Penn State Greater Allegheny rounds out the top five after finishing second in men's basketball during the winter campaign.
